Overview:
The Director, Information Technology (IT) is responsible for the internal and external security of the organization’s information systems. Under the supervision of the President & CEO, the Director, IT is responsible for the analysis, design, configuration, security, and maintenance of the organization’s server, storage, backup, and network infrastructure.

Responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage and direct the company’s information technology (IT) operations, ensuring the department provides efficient and effective technical support service.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with external IT vendors and service providers.
  • Develop and implement business continuity protocols to minimize business operations disruption in emergency situations or data loss.

Technology

  1. Assess the organization’s future needs for information technology and information systems infrastructure.
  2. Facilitate and manage the development, modification, and operation of security protocols, including intrusion detection and prevention systems, to protect the organization’s information from breach or loss.
  3. Determine, suggest, and plan the layout for computers and peripheral equipment, including necessary changes to existing equipment and systems required to ensure efficient operation and effective use of allotted space.
  4. Determine optimal hardware configurations by evaluating various factors such as the number of departments serviced by data processing equipment, volume of transactions, and need for security and access restrictions.
  5. Establish efficiency and efficacy standards, providing recommendations for improvement of IT infrastructure.

Security

  1. Oversee security of systems, networks, and enterprise information.
  2. Maintain current knowledge of emerging security threats, technical challenges, and developments in system protection and IT security standards.
  3. Conduct periodic audits and due diligence checks of security protocols, evaluating systems for vulnerabilities.
  4. Recommend modifications to security protocols as required.
  5. Develop and/or provide employees with training and guidance on acceptable use, risk management, incident response, and security protocols.
  6. Periodically brief senior management on the status of security systems and protocols.
  7. Ensure that monitoring operations comply with all applicable government regulations and standards.
  8. Use data encryption, firewalls, and other appropriate security tools and applications to conceal and protect transfers of confidential digital information.
  9. Develop and implement plans to safeguard digital data from accidental or unauthorized modification, destruction, or disclosure; adheres to emergency data processing needs.
  10. Document policies, procedures, and tests related to computer security and emergency measures.
  11. Facilitate IT investigations.
  12. Assists users with software, hardware, connectivity, and related issues; provides training on new or modified equipment.
  13. Maintain anti-virus protection systems and ensure software is appropriately updated and functional.
  14. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  1. Thorough understanding of computer-related security systems, including firewalls, password protection, authentication, and site-specific controls on physical access to computers.
  2. Thorough understanding of IT and practical applications to support the company’s goals.
  3. Demonstrate problem-solving and analytical skills.
  4. Verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  5. Proficient or able to gain proficiency with a broad array of security software applications and tools as well as the latest technology for IT systems and management.
  6. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software needed to maintain reports and records.
  7. Organized with attention to detail.
  8. Ability to manage time and prioritize tasks.

Physical Requirements:

  1. Prolonged periods of sitting and working on computers.
  2. Repetitive body motions may include: stooping, kneeling, crouching,
  3. and reaching/extending.
  4. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
  5. May be required to work unpredictable hours in emergencies.
  6. Travel to organization divisions.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Management, or equivalent.
  2. At least five years of experience in computer systems.
  3. A current driver’s license and insurance are required.
