Report To:                  Director, Laser, Design and Die (LDD)

Purpose: The janitor plays a vital role in creating a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for those who use the facilities they maintain. The job requires attention to detail, time management skills, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. The janitorial duties should be conducted several times daily.

Duties include but are not limited to:

Clean and Sanitize offices, hallways, and common areas:

  • Sweep and mop floors.
  • Dust and polish furniture and fixtures.
  • Empty trash bins and replace liners.
  • Clean and sanitize restrooms, including toilets and urinals (inside, outside, and underneath), sinks, mirrors, dust decorative mold, and pictures.
  • Refill soap, paper towels, and toilet paper dispensers.
  • Clean and sanitize door handles.
  • Clean and sanitize all areas in the breakrooms: coffee pots, microwaves, sinks, countertops, refrigerators, etc.
  • Wipe and disinfect surfaces, such as desks, countertops, blinds, and windowsills.
  • Clean and maintain windows and glass surfaces.
  • Vacuum carpets and rugs.

Maintenance of Common Areas:

  • Clean and maintain common areas, lobbies, stairs, and hallways.
  • Monitor and restock clean supplies. Communicate with the appropriate personnel to replenish clean supply stock and maintain an adequate level.

Equipment Maintenance:

  • Ensure proper maintenance of clean equipment, such as vacuum cleaners and floor buffers.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions or issues.

Special Events Support:

  • Assist with set up and clean up for special events or meetings.
  • Assist on the production line as directed by the supervisor.

Communication:

  • Report maintenance issues or repair needs to the appropriate personnel.
  • Communicate with supervisors and other staff members regarding clean schedules and tasks.

Health and Safety Compliance:

  • Adhere to health and safety guidelines and protocols.
  • Check for potential safety issues in all public areas daily and report them to the attention of the Division’s Director.
  • Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
  • Maintain a clean chart indicating areas that were cleaned and inspected.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is helpful but not required.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods with light to moderate lift.
  • One year of janitorial experience is required.
